Let your kid be a kid while building the foundations for lifelong thriving.
Preschoolers need more than letters and numbers, and certainly more than being kept busy. Ages 3–5 are a critical window for developing the cognitive, social, emotional, and motor skills that shape how children learn, move, and connect in the years ahead.

Playful movement is one of the most powerful ways to spark that growth. When children run, climb, balance, dance, and create—with practical, academic learning woven throughout—they’re wiring their brains and bodies for focus, confidence, coordination, and joy in learning.

At Movement Arts Club, we’ve built a space for real childhood: active, imaginative, supported, and full of discovery. We believe the best preparation for school begins with exploratory movement, creative play, and meaningful connection.
"As a university professor and the mother of two high-energy preschool aged boys, I value age-appropriate learning environments that don't focus on academics at the expense of physical activity but instead use it as a means for teaching self-confidence, self-discipline, teamwork, listening, sharing and an array of other important social skills necessary for success not just in school but in life. These are the things that my sons get in the Movement Arts Club at Bitterroot Gymnastics (Roots) and I highly recommend them." -Heather Cahoon, PhD
How Children Grow at Movement Arts Club
Kids in Movement Arts Club develop through a balanced, whole-child approach so they enter kindergarten confident, capable, and excited to learn.
When all parts of a child’s development are supported together, kids tend to shine. Families often notice their child showing a maturity, ease, and capability at a pace that feels exceptional yet completely natural—because the groundwork is truly in place.

Physical Development
Fine & Gross Motor Skills
Movement, rhythm, balance, and coordination strengthen both the body and the brain—building focus, confidence, and a foundation for joyful learning.

Cognitive Development
Early Academic Learning
Hands-on exploration, storytelling, music, and time in nature support early literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking—without relying on drills or rote worksheets.

Social Development
Fostering Connections
Cooperation, communication, and problem-solving are all intentionally developed as children navigate friendships, share space, and participate in a supportive community.

Creative Expression
Creative Movement
Art, music, dramatic play, and imaginative movement help children discover their voice and explore multiple forms of expression.

Emotional Development
Supporting Sense of Self
Through guidance and nurturing, children learn to name feelings, recover from frustration, and self-regulate—gaining resilience, empathy, and emotional fluency.
"I feel that bringing my kids to the Bitterroot Gymnastics (Roots) in the mornings was like a gift to them: here's this huge, warm and welcoming space for you to learn, make friends and to have fun. The kids get to move around and dance, but also to create and dream, independently and as a part of a team. We've been going to the Bitterroot Gymnastics (Roots) Programs for the last 5 years and will continue to do so. I'll make sure that also my third child will have the opportunity to experience the Movement and Arts Program and gain the same kind of fulfillment- joy, self-confidence and skills that makes her a strong little learner for years to come." -Jenni Rohrbach

A Different Preschool Experience for the Missoula Community
Movement Arts Club is designed for families who are thoughtful about how their child experiences these early years, not just where they go during the day.

Rather than prioritizing rigid academic routines or compliance-based milestones, we center the whole child and how learning naturally unfolds at this stage. Movement, play, creativity, and connection are not breaks from learning here, they are the foundation of it.

Our spacious, movement-friendly environment, relational teaching approach, and intentional rhythms support children as they practice independence, build friendships, and learn how to navigate group spaces with confidence and ease. For many families, MAC becomes a natural bridge between home life and school—preserving curiosity and joy while offering meaningful structure and community.
If you’re exploring preschool options and want an environment that supports your child’s physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development together, the best way to determine fit is to see the program in action.
